A festive no-bake snack mix made with crunchy Chex cereal coated in green candy melts and peanut butter, then tossed in powdered sugar and decorated with St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

9 cups Rice Chex cereal

1 cup green candy melts

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/4 cup St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles (green, gold, shamrocks)

1/2 cup green or mint M&Ms (optional)

Instructions

1. Place the Rice Chex cereal in a very large mixing bowl and set aside.

2. Add powdered sugar to a large 2-gallon resealable plastic bag and set aside.

3. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

4. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine green candy melts, peanut butter, and butter.

5. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until completely melted and smooth.

6. Stir in vanilla extract until combined.

7. Pour the melted mixture over the cereal and gently fold until evenly coated.

8. Transfer coated cereal to the bag with powdered sugar, seal tightly, and shake until fully coated.

9. Spread puppy chow onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer to cool completely.

10. Once cooled, gently mix in sprinkles and M&Ms before serving or storing.

Notes

Melt candy slowly to avoid scorching or thickening.

Use a gentle folding motion to prevent crushing the cereal.

Allow puppy chow to cool fully before adding sprinkles to prevent melting.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.

For a nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
