Ingredients
1/2 gallon lime sherbet
1 (46 oz) can chilled pineapple juice
1 (2-liter) bottle chilled lemon-lime soda
1–2 cups vodka or white rum (optional, for adult version)
Fresh lime slices for garnish
Maraschino cherries for garnish
Green sanding sugar for rimming glasses (optional)
Whipped cream for topping (optional)
Instructions
1. Chill the pineapple juice and lemon-lime soda thoroughly before starting to ensure maximum fizz and slow melting.
2. If desired, prepare glasses by dipping rims in lime juice or water, then into green sanding sugar.
3. Pour the chilled pineapple juice into a large punch bowl.
4. If making an alcoholic version, stir in vodka or white rum until combined.
5. Add large scoops of lime sherbet into the punch bowl.
6. Slowly pour the chilled lemon-lime soda over the sherbet to create a frothy top.
7. Gently stir once or twice to combine without flattening the carbonation.
8. Add lime slices and cherries to the bowl for a festive touch.
9. Ladle punch into prepared glasses, ensuring each serving gets foam and fruit.
10. Top with whipped cream if desired and serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
Notes
For best results, add sherbet and soda just before serving to maintain carbonation.
To reduce sugar, use diet lemon-lime soda.
For a flavor twist, substitute ginger ale for lemon-lime soda.
Leftovers can be refrigerated, but carbonation and froth will diminish.
This punch can easily be doubled for large gatherings.
