Description

Spicy, creamy, and crispy, these jalapeño popper bites are the ultimate crowd-pleasing appetizer perfect for game days, parties, or anytime snacking.

Ingredients

Scale

12 medium fresh jalapeños, halved and seeded

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)

2 eggs, beaten

1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or crushed gluten-free crackers)

Cooking spray or oil for frying/baking

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare your air fryer.

2. Wear gloves and slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise. Remove seeds and membranes if milder spice is desired.

3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheddar, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.

4. Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture using a spoon or piping bag.

5. Set up a breading station with three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs.

6. Dip each stuffed jalapeño first in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. For extra crispiness, repeat egg and breadcrumb steps.

7. Place breaded jalapeño bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment or into your air fryer basket.

8. For baking, lightly spray with cooking oil and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown. For air frying, cook at 375°F for 10–12 minutes.

9. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

You can make these ahead by assembling and breading the bites, then freezing them. Bake or air fry straight from frozen, adding a few minutes to cook time.

To reduce heat, always remove seeds and membranes from the jalapeños, or roast them before stuffing.

For a keto-friendly version, skip the breading and wrap each stuffed jalapeño with bacon.

Great dipping sauces include ranch, chipotle mayo, guacamole, and salsa verde.
