Ingredients
All-Purpose Flour
Baking Powder
Salt
Unsalted Butter, room temperature
Granulated Sugar
1 large Egg, room temperature
Vanilla Extract
Full-fat block Cream Cheese, softened
Unsalted Butter, softened
Powdered Sugar
Pink Candy Melts or Chocolate Chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until just combined.
5. On low speed, gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until no flour streaks remain.
6. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 18-22 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
7. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before frosting.
8. To make the frosting, beat softened cream cheese and butter until smooth, then gradually mix in powdered sugar and vanilla.
9. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cookie bars.
10. Melt candy melts or chocolate chips and pipe paw prints onto the frosting, using one oval for the pad and three dots for the toes.
11. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set the frosting before cutting and serving.
Notes
For the best soft and chewy texture, do not overbake the bars. Ensure the bars are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
